Poyet - there's only one Poyet!

Not long until our first game of the season, away at Stoke. I'm sure you all remember Poyet completing a 4-0 rout against Sunderland, on the first day of the season in 1999. It doesn't seem like it was over ten years ago.

Chelsea will play Aston Villa in the Premier League Asian Cup final tomorrow. Villas-Boas is still unbeaten, having won his first five pre-season games. His first pre-seaon game was played behind closed doors against Wycombe. Goals from Torres, Benyoun and Rajkovic sealed a 3-0 win. Own goals helped us beat Portsmouth and a Malaysia XI, the first game of our Far East tour, both 1-0.

The next two games, against Thailand All Stars and Kitchee, the champions from Hong King, ended with two comfortable 4-0 victories. The Villa game will be Chelsea's penultimate pre-season game, before returning from Asia to play Rangers at Ibrox on 6 August. So far Lampard (2), Drogba, Sturridge, Malouda, Ivanovic and Bosingwa have scored in pre-season.

Transfer rumours are still rumbling away. Chelsea have signed Thibaut Courtois from Genk on a five-year contract, and he's been immediately loaned to Atletico Madrid. A deal for young Barcelona B midfielder Oriol Romeu should be completed in the next couple of days.
